Celebrating Adoptive Families

November 12, 2010
In honor of Adoption Awareness Month, the library will hold an all-day information session and celebration of adoptive families in the Community Room. Representatives from the state Foster Care and Adoptive Services Department will be on hand to answer any questions from prospective families. Displays will showcase free library resources. Two story hours with crafts will welcome all families, but a special invitation goes out to families made through adoption or fostering. The November 12, 2010 morning storytime will begin at 10:30 and the afternoon session will begin at 3:30.No registration is necessary for these events.

C'est La Vie!

There are a few spaces left in C'est La Vie, an introduction to French language and culture by members of the Morgan School's French Honor Society. Once a week for 3 weeks, 1st through 5th graders will explore all good things francaise.

Preschoolers' Halloween Party

Please join us for a Halloween Costume Parade and storytime on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 10:00. All Princesses, Spidermen, Ladybugs, Fairies and Thomas The Tank Engines are welcome. Please leave any masks at home, as sometimes they upset young children. No registration is necessary.

New Arrangement for Chapter Books!

We've rearranged our collection of chapter books! Because we know most kids find a type of book they like and stick with it, we now have all the chapter books arranged by genre! Love Beverly Cleary? Browse the Realistic Fiction section for similar stories. Addicted to Harry Potter? Find more wonderful stories in our Fantasy section. Please come with your tickets to the Library lawn after the Memorial Day Parade; 12:30 p.m. on Monday.

FYI- the Library Building is Closed on Monday, May 31, 2010 in observance of the holiday. See you there!

Big Two Day Picture Book Sale on Feb 19-20, 2010

BIG Two Day Videocassette, Books on Audiocassette & Picture Book Sale!
On Feb. 19th & 20th, 2010, The Henry Carter Hull Library will host a two day sale on used videocassettes, audio books on cassette and picture books.

The sale will be held on Friday, February 19th, from 9am – 5pm and Saturday, February 20th, from 10am – 4pm in the Library Community Room. Movies are $1 and books are 50 cents each. All proceeds will benefit the library.

We have 5 new theme backpacks for your children to take home and explore! Just added to our collection of backpacks are: Farm Animals, Dinosaurs, Dress up, Spanish, and Wild Animals! Look for 2 more to be coming soon! The packs are filled with books, toys, manipulatives, and FUN, and circulate for 2 weeks like our books. Stop by and check them out!

We have a new pass available to The Old State House in Hartford! The Old State House has historically restored rooms, guided tours, interactive displays on Hartford's history, special Children's backpack activities, dress-up stations and discovery trunks full of hours of fun! The pass allows 2 adults and 2 children FREE admission. The museum is open Monday- Friday 10-5.
